After five semesters studying Architecture at Arizona State University, Monty Little enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Rifleman in 2004. Within his enlistment, Little was stationed with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines where he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to various countries in Southeast Asia in 2006, and to Ar Ramadi, Iraq in 2007. Little was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps in 2008.
Following his service, Little graduated in 2015 from the Institute of American Indian Arts where he double majored in Creative Writing and Studio Arts. It was here that he began to feel the urge to translate his thoughts on his experience of war and post-war. Little wrote extensively on his encounters of conflict. His writing initiated surreal images that Little began to paint and print, using each medium as erasure, unsettling truths revealing personal components of a chaotic past.
Little has shown nationally and internationally and was a 2015 SITE Scholar recipient. He now lives with his wife, Audra in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a current Tulsa Artist Fellow.
