RAFAEL CORZO

Born in Mexico City, Rafael Corzo is a New York City based visual artist. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art (BFA, 2012) and the The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University (MFA,2015). Corzo has been awarded diverse grants and residencies, including the Vermont Studio Center, Ox-Bow School of Art, Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Guttenberg Arts. Rafael Corzo, has also been a distinguished fellow at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts & Sciences, and been a guest artist at California State University Long Beach. With the theses “Creative Consciousness-The Art of Allowance,” “Intuitive Enlightenment,” and “Dimensions of Creation” Corzo’s creations are layers of information, and a micro-macro cosmos, with characteristics attributed to an alternate universe where all possibilities already exist. Totally ambidextrous, Corzo’s creations expand to ceramics, drawing, painting, watercolor, sculpture, installations, metal casting, and neon light. He can also draw, paint, and write with the left foot and writes backward. In the further development of his creative mind, Corzo is actively seeking an understanding of lucid dreaming, astral projection, remote viewing, meditation, visualization, and the full awakening and potential of the pineal gland or third eye. Currently, Rafael Corzo is part of the Tulsa Artist Fellowship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
