Tulsa Artist Fellowship and David Castillo Gallery welcome their communities to the limited-edition vinyl album release event for ”ASSHOLE / LONELINESS REMEDY” with Kalup Linzy. At the opening reception of The Floral Impulse organized by Xaviera Simmons in curatorial collaboration with David Castillo, Linzy will present his latest vinyl project as character Taiwan Braswell (returning from presumed death) alongside artwork on view further unraveling the family tree from which his pantheon of drag personalities originate, depicting them in a landscape as flowers. Tracks, Asshole and Loneliness Remedy, preview Linzy’s forthcoming full-length Spring 2023 album “Not Ready to Say Goodbye”.
Kalup Linzy is a world renowned multi-disciplinary artist. Linzy has been the recipient of numerous awards including a grant from the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, Creative Capital Foundation grant and many more. His work is in the public collections at The Studio Museum in Harlem, Whitney Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Linzy has worked and collaborated with many well-known artists, celebrities, and fashion designers. Among them are James Franco, Chloe Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Liya Kebede, Leo Fitzpatrick, James Ransone, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, Diane von Furstenberg, Proenza Schouler, Michael Stipe, Tunde Adebimpe, and the band TV on the Radio. Linzy is represented by David Castillo in Miami, Florida and The Breeder Gallery in Athens, Greece. In 2021, he founded the Queen Rose Art House in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Currently, Linzy is a Tulsa Artist Fellowship Arts Integration Awardee. His album Not Ready To Say Goodbye is available for per-order and will be released March 3, 2023.

David Castillo opened in 2005. In an ongoing manner from year to year, the gallery has been named hundreds of times in prominent publications. The gallery’s artists have helped shape the most current vision of contemporary art.
