Album Launch & Performance AN EVENING WITH KALUP LINZY AT LOWDOWN Presented by Bob Dylan Center & Tulsa Artist Fellowship Thursday, March 9 | Doors Open at 7pm LowDown 108 N. Detroit Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74103 Tickets available for purchase February 16, 2023 at bobdylancenter.com

The Bob Dylan Center® and Tulsa Artist Fellowship are pleased to present an evening of music and performance with Kalup Linzy to celebrate the March 3 release of his new album, “Not Ready to Say Goodbye.” Linzy will debut new songs and play favorites from his back catalog in the guise of a bewitching trio of characters—Joshua Justin Queen, Kaye Braswell and Taiwan Braswell—that he embodies to enact narratives of love, loss and self-empowerment from a decidedly queer perspective. Linzy will be accompanied by a four-piece band that does full justice to his classic soul and neo-R&B song stylings. “Not Ready to Say Goodbye” is Kalup Linzy’s sixth album and is a combination of songs revisited from past albums including “Asshole,” “Chewing Gum”, and “Dirty Trade” alongside new singles like “Loneliness Remedy” and “Let’s Make It Hot.” The album also features covers such as “Members Only” by Bobby Bland and “Walk On By,” a Burt Bacharach and Hal David song made popular by Dionne Warwick. Marking his first studio album, Linzy recorded at Wild Mountain Studios, owned and operated by local sound engineer Mark Kuykendall. The album is available for pre-order on Apple iTunes and features a bevy of renowned Tulsa musicians including Johnny Mullenax, Stephen Schultz, David Broome, Matthew Teegarden and Matt Baker. The album was completed with a grant from The Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts, and Culture.

"I am very excited about the release of my first full-length album since I've been in Tulsa,” said Kalup Linzy “It’s been a fortunate experience working with so many talented individuals on this project. Equally, I am excited to have the collaborating support from the Bob Dylan Center and the Tulsa Artist Fellowship for this album launch at LowDown, where I’ve been wanting to perform for some time now.”

In this vein, he has appeared on “General Hospital” and collaborated on projects with multi-hyphenate artists such as James Franco, Chloe Sevigny, Michael Stipe and Chan Marshall (Cat Power). Linzy’s work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Whitney Museum of American Art and other major institutions, and he is the recipient of awards from Creative Capital and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, among many others.
