ONE AUX: EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC OPEN-MIC SERIES

Co-hosted by Tulsa Artist Fellow Carl Antonowicz

New performance series ONE AUX organized by awardee Carl Antonowicz from 7-9pm at Tulsa Artist Fellowship's Cameron Studios. This recurring event with an open-mic signup model welcomes all performers with experimental, noise, or otherwise left-field sound work.

Performers can sign-up on Instagram @one.aux the week before each monthly event for a 10-minute performance slot to strut their proverbial stuff. Audience members will witness both experienced practitioners and newcomers presenting harsh noise assaults to delicate tabletop guitar work.

Carl Antonowicz is a Texas-reared, Tulsa-based illustrator, performer, writer, director, cartoonist, and calligrapher. He dabbles in medieval history, the occult, theatre, and a number of other enterprises. Most recently he mounted the comics/performance hybrid THE FUTURE WITHOUT YOU at the Tulsa City-County Library. Antonowicz's staged work is a hybrid of radio play, stage play, and live comics reading. Actors give both voice and motion to still images projected on screens while producing live Foley effects that enrich and complement the action of the story. Audiences are forced to split their attention between drawn images, a moving actor, and sounds from unexpected sources, all of which contribute to creating a gesamtkunstwerk that draws the viewer into the narrative at the core of these performances.

Todd Woodlan, aka A Thousand Plateaus. Woodlan is a producer, composer, and sound designer based in Tulsa, OK. His music uses generative composition techniques alongside field recordings and modular synthesis to explore ideas of place, ambiance, and noise. Recently, his work was included in the 2022 Musikfestival Bern.
