SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN X SUNODOS

Join us on July 7th for a special edition of Seven Minutes in Heaven, a reading series of short prose organized by Liz Blood. Nested within the art exhibition "sunodos: act of attention" at Tulsa Artist Fellowship, these readings will uniquely relate to nature.

Featuring Oklahoma Book Award winners Rilla Askew and Ken Hada, Chelsea T. Hicks, and Exquisite Williams, each author will present a complete story in seven minutes.

One **wild-card** reader will be chosen from the crowd—it could be you! Bring your seven-minute-or-less story to the event.

The event begins at 6:30pm at Flagship at Tulsa Artist Fellowship with readings beginning promptly at 6:45 p.m. Come beforehand to check out the art on view in "sunodos," to grab a seat and a beverage, and say hey! This event will have ASL interpreters.

This event is sponsored by Tulsa Artist Fellowship.

READERS

RILLA ASKEW is the author of five novels, a book of stories, and a collection of creative nonfiction. She’s a PEN/Faulkner finalist and recipient of the Arts and Letters Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her novel about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, "Fire in Beulah," received the American Book Award in 2002.

KEN HADA's writing is grounded in a strong sense of place. He recently published ecological essays in the "Hungarian Journal of English and American Studies," and in "Solastalgia: An Anthology of Emotion in a Disappearing World" (Virginia UP). His "Contour Feathers" received the 2022 Oklahoma Book Award for poetry, and his latest collection, "Come Before Winter," has just been released by Turning Plow Press.

CHELSEA T. HICKS is a Wazhazhe writer. Her writing has been published in "The Paris Review," "Poetry," "McSweeney’s," and elsewhere. Her first book, "A Calm & Normal Heart," was longlisted for the PEN America Robert W. Bingham Prize and recognized as a 5 Under 35 honoree by the National Book Foundation. She lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she is a Tulsa Artist Fellow.

EXQUISITE ARMANTE WILLIAMS is a writer who was planted in Atlanta, cultivated at LSU, and then transplanted to a MFA Program in Oklahoma where she now resides. Her work investigates grief, magic, love, and—lately—a lot of pelicans. When she isn’t writing, she is learning to be an adult with the help of her blood and found family.
