BEYOND THE WHITEWASH
Organized by Shelby Head, the new exhibition Beyond the Whitewash opens at Living Arts and will remain on view through July 21. A multi-racial group of Oklahoma-based artists and art workers made sound and visual artworks to explore the legacy and implications of white supremacy, privilege, and silence in North America. Participants include M. Florine Démosthène, Marlon Hall, Shelly Head, Bobby Martin, Phetote Mshairi, Joel Daniel Phillips, Welana Quetoh, Warren Realrider, and Nathan Young. Beyond the Whitewash is supported by the Tulsa Artist Fellowship, OVAC Thrive Grant Program in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Living Arts of Tulsa, the National Endowments for the Arts, and Artist's Resource Trust.
