The 2025 Intertribal Noise Symposium, co-presented by Nathan Young, the Chinati Foundation, and Atomic Culture, will take place Friday, March 14, through Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the Chinati Foundation and Crowley Theater in Marfa, Texas.

The symposium’s format will integrate performances, a conversation between Candice Hopkins (Carcross/Tagish First Nation) and Nathan Young (Delaware, Kiowa, and Pawnee), and listening sessions, with a central focus on exploring Native American sonic agency and the broader implications of sound and resistance in art and culture. It will feature interdisciplinary collaborations between artists, scholars, and community members, emphasizing the critical engagement of Native and diasporic voices in contemporary art.

Performers include: Justis Brokenrope / Watheca Records (Sičháŋǧu Lakȟóta), Raven Chacon (Diné), Spirit Plate (Nathan Young, Delaware, Kiowa, and Pawnee), Mateo Galindo (Chicano), Warren Realrider (Pawnee and Crow), Ryan Dennison (Diné), KITE (Oglála Lakȟóta), White Boy Scream (Filipino-American), Nudo (TX/MX), and Waves of Dust (WA/OK).

The Ch’íná’itíh (Chinati) Intertribal Noise Symposium 2025 is made possible through support from the Terra Foundation for American Art, the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF), the City of Marfa, and Oklahoma University School of Visual Arts.

Tulsa Artist Fellowship strives to provide a welcoming and accessible experience. Our exhibitions and events are free, documented, and archived.

Tulsa Artist Fellowship - Studios at 109 MLK Jr Blvd E. Tulsa, OK 74103 accommodates wheelchairs and strollers. Variable seating is provided in addition to areas for distanced standing. Family-scale private washrooms are available to support visitors with disabilities and caregivers who need access to increased square footage and changing tables. The elevator at Archer Studios is located at the main west entrance on Martin Luther King Blvd. Street-side parking is available at both buildings using the Park Mobile App and is free after 5 pm and all day Saturday-Sunday.
